Basic stop motion principles and technique

Introduction to Stop Motion Animation 

This 2 day intro workshop students requires that students work in pairs to learn the basics of stop motion animation including frame rate and shot composition. Students create rough storyboards as guides and complete short animations using found objects. This workshop is adaptable for grades 8-12 and customized to the Arts Integration Curriculum. Duration: 3 hrs. a day for 2 days.

Storyboarding for Animation

In this 3 day workshop, students are introduced to storyboarding as a tool for visual storytelling. Using shot sequence, composition, and storyboarding shorthand students produce their own (simple) stories. This workshop is adaptable for grades 5-12 and customized to the Arts Integration Curriculum.Duration: 3 hrs. a day for 3 days. Price varies. Please schedule a consultation for more details.

Learn how to fabricate maquettes fabricated out of wire and polymer clay.

Maquette Building 

Maquettes are an important part of visual development. Stop motion animators use them as part of the puppet making process for foam casting.  Working from a selection of pre-designed characters, students sculpt their own maquettes out of armature wire, foil, and polymer clay. This workshop is roughly 5 days to allow baking and drying times and is appropriate for grades 9-12. Duration: 3 hrs. a day for 5 days. Price varies.
